Testing developmental toxicity in a second species: are the differences due to species or replication error?

Study findings indicate that variability in developmental toxicity study results between rats and rabbits may stem from study errors, not species differences. This suggests the necessity of a second species study may be questionable for chemical and pharmaceutical safety assessments.
