    Coronal computed tomography (CT) scans help differentiate brain lesion locations. This study shows coronal CT confirms subdural hematomas extending into the supratentorial subdural space.

    • Differentiating supra- from infratentorial and intra- from extraaxial lesions can be challenging using only axial computed tomography (CT) scans.

    • Three patients with head injuries and subdural hematomas were examined.
    • Axial CT scans revealed subdural hematomas with unusual areas of increased attenuation near the tentorium cerebelli.
    • These areas appeared distinct from the main subdural collection.

    Findings:

    • Coronal CT scans provided superior anatomical detail compared to axial scans.
    • Coronal imaging confirmed the supratentorial, extraaxial nature of the observed collections.
    • The findings indicated an extension of the subdural hematoma into the supratentorial subdural space.

    • This technique aids in distinguishing the compartmental origin and extent of lesions like subdural hematomas.
