Diabetes mellitus in chronic pancreatitis (CP-DM) may not be genetically distinct from type 2 diabetes (T2DM). A genetic risk score for T2DM did not differentiate between CP-DM and T2DM patients, suggesting CP-DM could be a T2DM subtype.
