The IL-6-neutralizing sIL-6R-sgp130 buffer system is disturbed in patients with type 2 diabetes

A protective buffer formed by soluble interleukin-6 receptor (sIL-6R) and soluble glycoprotein 130 (sgp130) neutralizes IL-6 in healthy individuals. This buffer is disturbed in type 2 diabetes (T2D), with lower sIL-6R-sgp130 levels and high IL-6.
