Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the direct and indirect associations of candidate genes, age, cognition, gender, comorbidities, pain, and social activity with resilience, function, and exercise post-hip fracture.
  • To explore the genetic underpinnings of resilience in older adults after hip fracture.

Main Methods:

  • A descriptive study involving 172 community-dwelling older adults.
  • Assessment of genetic variability (10 candidate genes), cognitive function, pain, social activity, physical function, and exercise levels.
  • Analysis of associations between these factors and resilience.

  • Significant associations were found between resilience and single nucleotide polymorphisms in genes including GRM1, NTRK1, NTRK2, GNB3, NPY, and SLC6A15.
