Single nucleotide polymorphisms in the IL-17A gene (rs2275913) are associated with knee osteoarthritis (KOA) susceptibility in the Chinese Han population. This genetic link was not observed in the Tibetan population or for the IL-17F gene (rs763780).

- The IL-17A (rs2275913) genotype AA and allele A are likely associated with an increased risk of knee osteoarthritis in the Chinese Han population.
- These specific genetic variations do not appear to be risk factors for KOA in the studied Tibetan population.
- The findings suggest population-specific genetic influences on KOA pathogenesis related to IL-17A.
