Plasma mitochondrial DNA is associated with extrapulmonary sarcoidosis

Extracellular mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) is elevated in sarcoidosis patients, especially African Americans and those with extrapulmonary disease. This finding may offer new therapeutic insights for sarcoidosis.
