    Background:

    • Essential cryoglobulinaemia is a condition characterized by the presence of cryoglobulins in the blood.
    • The immune system's role, particularly peripheral blood lymphocytes, in essential cryoglobulinaemia is not fully understood.
    • Investigating lymphocyte function can provide insights into the pathogenesis of this disorder.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the surface markers and in vitro mitogenic reactivity of peripheral blood lymphocytes in untreated patients with essential cryoglobulinaemia.
    • To compare lymphocyte responses between patients and healthy controls.
    • To identify potential immune defects contributing to essential cryoglobulinaemia.

    Main Methods:

    • Analysis of surface markers on peripheral blood lymphocytes from patients and controls.

    • Further research is warranted to elucidate the specific nature of this T-cell defect and its clinical implications.
