Reliability and Validity01:29

Reliability and Validity

13.8K
Reliability and validity are two important considerations that must be made with any type of data collection. Reliability refers to the ability to consistently produce a given result. In the context of psychological research, this would mean that any instruments or tools used to collect data do so in consistent, reproducible ways.

Statistical Software for Data Analysis and Clinical Trials01:12

Statistical Software for Data Analysis and Clinical Trials

1.4K
Statistical software is pivotal in data analysis and clinical trials by providing tools to analyze data, draw conclusions, and make predictions. These software packages range from simple data management applications to complex analytical platforms, supporting various statistical tests, models, and simulation techniques. Their significance lies in their ability to handle vast amounts of data with precision and efficiency, enabling researchers to validate hypotheses, identify trends, and make...

Distribution Reliability and Automation

498
Distribution reliability in electrical power systems is critical for ensuring an uninterrupted power supply to consumers at minimal cost. According to IEEE Standard Terms, reliability is the probability that a device will function without failure over a specified time period or amount of usage. For electric power distribution, this translates to maintaining continuous power supply and addressing customer concerns over power outages. Several indices, as defined by IEEE Standard 1366-2012, are...

Data Validation01:03

Data Validation

6.4K
Data validation is an essential part of a comprehensive assessment. Validation is confirming or verifying and opening the door to gathering more assessment data as it clarifies vague or unclear data. The process of checking and verifying the collected information is called data validation. The primary purpose of data validation is to ensure data is as free from error, bias, and misinterpretation as possible.
Nursing assessment guides are generally based on holistic models rather than medical...

Method validation is a crucial process in analytical chemistry designed to confirm that a given method consistently produces reliable and high-quality results. This process is essential when a method is applied to different sample matrices or when procedural modifications are made, ensuring that the results meet acceptable standards across various applications.
Key parameters for method validation include:

Formulating and Validating Nursing Diagnosis II

3.6K
Nursing diagnoses represent a problem validated by major defining characteristics. There are four categories of nursing diagnoses: problem-focused, risk, health promotion or wellness, and syndrome. The anatomy of a nursing diagnosis includes three components: problem statement or diagnostic label, defining characteristics, and related factors.
Risk nursing diagnoses represent clinical judgments of an individual, family, or community more vulnerable to developing the health problem than others...

    Area of Science:

    • Orthodontics
    • Medical Imaging
    • Digital Health

    Background:

    • Cephalometric analysis is crucial in orthodontics for diagnosis and treatment planning.
    • Traditional methods involve manual tracing or specialized software.
    • The emergence of smartphone applications offers potential for more accessible cephalometric analysis.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy and reliability of two smartphone-based cephalometric analysis applications.
    • To compare the performance of CephNinja and OneCeph apps against Viewbox software, considered the gold standard.

    Main Methods:

    • Fifty pretreatment digital lateral cephalograms were analyzed using CephNinja and OneCeph apps.
    • Viewbox software served as the gold standard for comparison.
    • Seven angular and two linear measurements based on Steiner analysis were performed and analyzed using intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs).

    Main Results:

    • OneCeph showed high validity when compared to Viewbox (ICCs .903-.983).
    • CephNinja demonstrated high reliability (ICCs .786-.978 vs. Viewbox) and met recommended ICC cutoffs for reliability.
    • Intratool reliability ICCs ranged from .647-.993 for the tested apps.

    Conclusions:

    • OneCeph exhibits high validity for cephalometric analysis compared to Viewbox.
    • CephNinja is a reliable alternative to Viewbox for cephalometric measurements.
    • Smartphone applications show significant potential to supplement traditional cephalometric analysis in orthodontic practice.
