Mini-screw assisted distalization effectively moved lower teeth, including molars, premolars, and canines, to correct mild Class III malocclusion. This orthodontic approach showed minimal relapse after treatment, offering a stable solution.
Area of Science:
- Orthodontics
- Dental Implantology
Background:
- Mild Class III malocclusion requires effective treatment strategies.
- Mini-screw implants offer skeletal anchorage for orthodontic tooth movement.
Observation:
- Two mini-screws were placed in the mandibular inter-root bone for anchorage.
- Distalization of lower molars, premolars, and canines was performed using the mini-screws.
Findings:
- Successful distalization of the entire lower dentition was achieved.
- The orthodontic treatment duration was approximately 2.5 years, with 1 year dedicated to molar distalization.
- Minimal relapse was observed during the post-retention phase.
Implications:
- Mini-screw assisted distalization is a viable option for correcting Class III malocclusion.
- This technique can lead to predictable dentoalveolar changes with long-term stability.

Frictional Forces on Screws
A jack with a square-threaded screw is a mechanical device used to lift heavy loads by applying a force at its handle. When the force is applied, the screw turns, raising the load. The screw can...
