The Interactive Studies Unit (ISU) provided one-to-one remedial support to 727 doctors between 2010-2018.
Non-clinical issues in medical practice are challenging to define and assess objectively.
Understanding the interplay between behavior and values is crucial for professional development.

Purpose of the Study:

To analyze the nature of non-clinical problems encountered by doctors.
To identify common generic issues in professional behavior and values.
To develop educational strategies for addressing these challenges.

Main Methods:

A review of referral data from the Interactive Studies Unit (ISU).
Development of a taxonomy categorizing problems at the self, interactional, and contextual levels.
Identification and discussion of six representative generic problem cases.

Main Results:

Six common generic problems were identified, reflecting complex interactions between behavior and values.
Problems were categorized across individual, interpersonal, and institutional contexts.
Each case study included suggested educational activities for remediation.
