Polydioxanone (PDS): a new material for internal suspension and fixation

The use of the resorbable material Polydioxanone (PDS) as an alternative to stainless steel wire in the suspension and fixation of facial fractures and osteotomies is described. Evidence of the material's persistent strength in use is presented with a discussion of its advantages over stainless steel.
