Background:

  • Graft injuries are common in early ligamentization (3-6 months) post-ACL reconstruction due to muscle weakness and reduced protocol adherence.
  • Postoperative bracing is a traditional method to protect the ACL graft during the initial healing phase.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the functional outcomes and graft reinjury rates after ACL reconstruction by omitting postoperative bracing.
  • To assess the impact of an early enhanced recovery protocol on graft healing and patient function.

Main Methods:

  • A cohort of 32 patients undergoing arthroscopic ACL reconstruction followed a standardized protocol emphasizing preoperative quadriceps exercises and early mobilization.
  • No postoperative knee brace was utilized. Patients were monitored for 3 months to 1 year, with Lysholm knee scores assessed at 6 and 12 months.
