Lack of validated, peer-reviewed materials on sex and gender differences in medical curricula.

Purpose of the Study:

To develop and evaluate Sex- and Gender-Specific Health (SGSH) Multimedia Case-Based Learning Modules (MCBLMs).
To assess the impact of MCBLMs on medical students' knowledge and their acceptance of the learning format.

Main Methods:

Multidisciplinary committee developed MCBLMs on osteoporosis and diabetes.
Modules were field-tested in five accredited medical institutions.
Paired-samples t-test analyzed pretest and post-test scores; postmodule surveys assessed format acceptance.

Main Results:

Significant improvements in post-test scores for both osteoporosis (p < 0.001) and diabetes (p < 0.001) modules.
High acceptance rates for the module format, with average scores of 3.54/4 for osteoporosis and 3.45/4 for diabetes.
Positive effect on content knowledge observed across different educational settings.

Conclusions:

SGSH MCBLMs effectively enhance medical students' understanding of sex and gender differences in health.
The multimedia, case-based format is well-accepted by learners.
These modules represent a valuable addition to medical education for addressing SGSH topics.
