Atorvastatin (ATV) reduces reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation in immune cells of diabetes patients but does not affect mitochondrial ROS. ATV also activates interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) secretion, independent of hyperglycemia.
