Tramadol- and codeine-induced severe hyponatremia: A Swedish population-based case-control study

Newly initiated tramadol and codeine use significantly increases the risk of hospitalization for hyponatremia. Long-term use of these weak opioids does not elevate this risk, suggesting a potential causal link with initial exposure.
