Fabrication of Schottky Diodes on Zn-polar BeMgZnO/ZnO Heterostructure Grown by Plasma-assisted Molecular Beam Epitaxy

Attainment of high-quality Schottky contacts is imperative for achieving efficient gate modulation in heterostructure field effect transistors (HFETs). We present the fabrication methodology and characteristics of Schottky diodes on Zn-polar BeMgZnO/ZnO heterostructures with high-density two dimensional electron gas (2DEG), grown by plasma-assisted molecular beam epitaxy on GaN...

Band Theory02:35

Band Theory

When two or more atoms come together to form a molecule, their atomic orbitals combine and molecular orbitals of distinct energies result. In a solid, there are a large number of atoms, and therefore a large number of atomic orbitals that may be combined into molecular orbitals. These groups of molecular orbitals are so closely placed together to form continuous regions of energies, known as the bands.
The energy difference between these bands is known as the band gap.

Tension Response at Adherens Junctions

The adherens junctions that anchor cells together are multi-protein complexes that dynamically adapt to mechanical stimuli such as tensile forces and shear stress. Mechanosensory proteins in these junctions can sense such mechanical stimuli and undergo a shift in their conformation, resulting in an altered function — a process called mechanotransduction.
α-Catenin as a Mechanosensory Protein
The α-catenin of adherens junctions is an allosteric protein with three VH (vinculin...

In Vitro Phototoxicity Assay: A PDT-based Method to Evaluate the Phototoxic Potential of a Photosensitizer in Lung Cancer Cells05:08

In Vitro Phototoxicity Assay: A PDT-based Method to Evaluate the Phototoxic Potential of a Photosensitizer in Lung Cancer Cells

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a non-invasive and non-surgical method for lung cancer treatment. Photosensitizers selectively accumulate in tumor tissue and lead to tumor cell death in the presence of oxygen and the proper wavelength of light. In this protocol video, PDT-based method is used to evaluate the phototoxic potential of a potential photosensitizer in lung cancer...

Robot-Assisted Radical Antegrade Modular Pancreatosplenectomy Including Resection and Reconstruction of the Spleno-Mesenteric Junction

The robotic technique shown herein aims at faithfully reproducing the open procedure for radical treatment of cancer of the body-tail of the pancreas. The protocol also demonstrates the ability to master involvement of major peripancreatic vessels without conversion to open...

Application of Robot-assisted Pancreaticobiliary Junction Resection in Benign Duodenal Tumors

The current protocol delineates the use of robot-assisted pancreaticobiliary junction resection for the surgical management of benign duodenal tumors. This approach provides an effective solution for treating these tumors while minimizing duodenal loss and reducing associated...
