Hollow Fiber Bioreactors for In Vivo-like Mammalian Tissue Culture

16.9K
The functional behavior of cells in culture can be improved by culturing in more in vivo-like 3-dimensional culture environments16-21. This manuscript describes the set-up and operation of a hollow fiber bioreactor system for in vivo-like mammalian tissue...

Production of Extracellular Matrix Fibers via Sacrificial Hollow Fiber Membrane Cell Culture

7.9K
The goal of this protocol is production of whole extracellular matrix fibers targeted for wound repair which are suitable for preclinical evaluation as part of a regenerative scaffold implant. These fibers are produced by the culture of fibroblasts on hollow fiber membranes and extracted by dissolution of the membranes.

Continuous Liquid-Liquid Extraction of Medium-Chain Fatty Acids from Fermentation Broth Using Hollow-Fiber Membranes06:45

Continuous Liquid-Liquid Extraction of Medium-Chain Fatty Acids from Fermentation Broth Using Hollow-Fiber Membranes

1.9K
A liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) system involving hollow-fiber membranes was developed to continuously and selectively extract medium-chain fatty acids (MCFAs) from the fermentation broth. The LLE system achieves high MCFA specificities from broths containing short-chain fatty acids and alcohols. Also, MCFAs are concentrated in a stripping solution to facilitate product recovery.

Multicolor Fluorescence Detection for Droplet Microfluidics Using Optical Fibers

11.2K
Multicolor fluorescence detection in droplet microfluidics typically involves bulky and complex epifluorescence microscope-based detection systems. Here we describe a compact and modular multicolor detection scheme that utilizes an array of optical fibers to temporally encode multicolor data collected by a single...
