Summary

The incidence of breast implant-associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL) in Israel is higher than previously reported. This rare cancer around breast implants requires further clinical and medicolegal attention.

Background:

Breast implant-associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL) is a rare malignancy linked to breast implants.
The condition's incidence has been historically underestimated, with recent data suggesting a higher prevalence.

Observation:

A retrospective analysis identified four cases of ALCL in Israel.
The study aimed to determine the occurrence of ALCL in the Israeli population with breast implants.

Findings:

The incidence of ALCL in Israel is significantly higher than previously estimated.
Lifetime prevalence is estimated at 1:15,000 for women with textured breast implants in Israel.

Implications:

The findings suggest a need to re-evaluate the risk associated with breast implants, particularly textured ones.
Increased ALCL prevalence has significant clinical and medicolegal implications requiring attention.
