Ruptured Cesarean Scar Pregnancy: A Case Report

Cesarean scar pregnancy, a rare ectopic pregnancy variant, can cause uterine rupture and hemorrhage. Early diagnosis and intervention are crucial to prevent severe maternal complications and preserve fertility.

- Cesarean scar pregnancy is a rare ectopic pregnancy occurring in the myometrium of a prior cesarean scar.
- It accounts for 6.1% of ectopic pregnancies and approximately 1 in 2000 pregnancies.
Observation:
- A case of a 24-year-old female with a ruptured cesarean scar pregnancy is presented.
- The patient underwent emergency laparotomy and subsequent hysterectomy due to the rupture.
Findings:
- Trophoblastic invasion into the myometrium can lead to uterine rupture and severe hemorrhage.
- Prompt diagnosis in the first trimester is essential for appropriate management.
Implications:
- Ruptured cesarean scar pregnancy constitutes an obstetric emergency requiring immediate intervention.
- Early diagnosis and management strategies are vital to reduce maternal morbidity and mortality.
- Expectant management carries a poor prognosis, potentially leading to hysterectomy and loss of fertility.
