Summary

Post-orgasmic illness syndrome (POIS) is a rare condition causing debilitating symptoms after ejaculation. Research suggests immunological factors may be involved, and symptomatic treatments show some success, but further study is needed.

Background:

  • To elucidate the pathophysiology, diagnosis, and management of POIS.

  • A literature review was performed on PubMed using keywords: "orgasm illness", "post-orgasmic", and "postorgasmic illness syndrome".
