Summary

Nutmeg overdose can cause serious psychiatric and neurological symptoms. Emergency teams must recognize nutmeg toxicity to avoid misdiagnosis and ensure proper patient care.

Background:

Nutmeg is a common spice with various purported medicinal uses.
However, its toxic effects are not well-documented.

Observation:

A case report details a young male presenting with psychiatric and neurological symptoms after a nutmeg overdose.
The prehospital and Emergency Department presentation were thoroughly documented.

Findings:

Nutmeg toxicity can manifest with a range of neurological, cardiac, and psychiatric symptoms.
These symptoms can mimic other serious medical conditions, leading to potential misdiagnosis.

Implications:

Increased awareness of nutmeg toxicity is crucial for emergency personnel.
