  • Human herpesvirus 8 (HHV-8), or Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus, is linked to Kaposi's sarcoma (KS) and lymphoproliferative disorders (LPDs).
  • HHV-8 drives lymphoproliferation through pathways like interleukin-6 receptor signaling.
  • The classification of HHV-8-associated LPDs is evolving, with the WHO recently adding HHV-8-positive germinotropic LPD (GLPD).

Observation:

  • A case study of an HIV-positive woman with a history of KS is presented.
  • The patient sequentially developed three rare HHV-8-associated LPDs: HHV-8-positive multicentric Castleman's disease (MCD), primary effusion lymphoma (PEL), and GLPD.
  • This represents the first reported instance of a patient presenting with this specific combination of LPDs.

Findings:

  • The case demonstrates the diverse clinical spectrum and sequential progression of HHV-8-associated diseases.
