Background:

Serum protein polymorphisms are valuable markers for population genetics.
Understanding genetic variations within European populations provides insights into migration patterns and historical relationships.

Purpose of the Study:

To investigate the gene frequencies of four serum polymorphisms (Haptoglobin, Group-Specific Component, Gamma-globulin allotypes Gm and Km) in a Catalonian population.
To compare these frequencies with those of other Southwestern European populations and specifically with Castilla.

A random sample of the Catalonian population was analyzed.
The study focused on four specific serum polymorphisms: HP, GC, Gm, and Km.
