Methods Of Healthcare Delivery System01:26

Methods Of Healthcare Delivery System

4.0K
At the different levels of the healthcare system, we see varying methods of healthcare used. These methods include managed care systems, case management, and primary healthcare.
Managed Care System:
The managed care system is designed to control the cost while maintaining the quality of care. The patient's care from admission to discharge is planned by the primary care provider or the case manager, also known as the gatekeeper. In a managed care system, the number of care providers is...

The World Health Organization (WHO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations based in Geneva. The WHO has many initiatives that center around health. Primarily, they lead global efforts to expand universal health coverage using science-based policies and programs. They are also responsible for shaping health research agendas and developing norms and standards.
The WHO provides expert team support, including funding, vaccines, testing, and treatment tools at the country level to fight...

Principles of Disease Surveillance01:26

Principles of Disease Surveillance

471
Disease surveillance is the systematic collection, analysis, and interpretation of health data essential to the planning, implementation, and evaluation of public health practice. This process integrates data dissemination to entities responsible for preventing and controlling disease, injury, and disability. Surveillance systems provide crucial information for action, helping public health authorities make informed decisions to manage and prevent outbreaks, ensure public safety, optimize...

Primary Healthcare Services

2.0K
Primary care promotes wellness and prevents disease. This care includes health promotion, education, protection (such as immunizations), early disease screening, and environmental considerations. Settings providing this type of healthcare include physician offices, public health clinics, school nursing, and community health nursing.
In 1978, international leaders convened in Alma-Ata, Kazakhstan, for what would be a pivotal event in global health. The Alma-Ata Declaration was the first to call...

Integrated Healthcare System01:20

Integrated Healthcare System

2.3K
An integrated healthcare system (IHS) is a set of organizations that provides for or arranges to provide coordinated and continuous service to a defined population. The IHS takes responsibility for that particular population's health status and outcome, both clinically and fiscally. An integrated healthcare system is a well-organized, well-coordinated, and collaborative network. The integrated delivery system is a network that connects different healthcare providers to deliver organized,...

Design Example: Analyzing Capacity Contours for Flood Risk Assessment

286
Flood risk assessment involves careful planning and analysis to ensure the safety of communities near water retention structures. Capacity contours are a vital tool in this process, as they illustrate the potential spread of water at specific levels in a given area. In the context of building a bund across a small valley, these contours play a critical role in evaluating the safety of nearby residential areas. In this example, the bund is intended to store stormwater in the valley. The engineers...

    Area of Science:

    • Public Health
    • Veterinary Medicine
    • Environmental Science
    • Global Health Security

    Background:

    • Multisectoral, One Health collaboration is vital for addressing health threats at the human-animal-environment interface.
    • Numerous One Health tools exist to assess capacities, plan activities, and strengthen coordination for health security.
    • Effective implementation requires regular collaboration and information sharing among partners to optimize outcomes.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To present a consensus framework for aligning commonly implemented One Health tools.
    • To support countries in strengthening their national One Health systems.
    • To categorize current and future One Health tools for optimal national system strengthening.

    Main Methods:

    • A landscape analysis of twelve selected One Health tools was conducted using a cloud-based spreadsheet.
    • An implementation analysis identified dynamics, outcomes, and synergies of these tools.
    • A consensus conceptual model and an overarching conceptual framework were developed through a four-step process.

    Main Results:

    • A consensus framework was developed to guide the alignment of One Health tools for national system strengthening.
    • Twelve high-implementation One Health tools were analyzed, including the IHR Annual Reporting Tool, PVS Pathway, and JEE.
    • The framework categorizes tools to best support national One Health system strengthening efforts.

    Conclusions:

    • Aligning One Health tools through a consensus framework can significantly enhance national health security.
    • The proposed framework provides a structured approach for countries to leverage One Health tools more effectively.
    • Regular collaboration and information sharing are key to maximizing the impact of One Health initiatives.
