[An extended concept of tonsillar involution: changes in lymphocyte maturation. Its demonstration by surface marker
In tonsillar lymphocytes of adults the surface marker determination by applying monoclonal antibodies and rosette techniques yields identical values in both, the B- and T cell systems. However in children's tonsillar lymphocytes the outcome is to be considered different between the detection systems. Characteristic markers are not simultaneously expressed and the cells are assumed to be immature. The involution progress of the tonsil is a shift from immature B- and T cell forms to matured differentiation stages.
