    Background:

    • Alcoholism is frequently associated with various dermatologic conditions.
    • Previous beliefs suggested a high prevalence of rosacea in individuals with alcohol use disorder, often referred to as the "drinker's nose."

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the prevalence of specific dermatologic signs and conditions in a cohort of patients diagnosed with alcoholism.
    • To assess the occurrence of rosacea in this patient group to verify or refute existing assumptions.

    Main Methods:

    • A cohort of 101 patients meeting diagnostic criteria for alcoholism was recruited.
    • Each patient underwent a dermatologic evaluation to identify and record skin conditions.
    • Demographic data including age, race, and gender were collected.

    Main Results:

    • The study identified several common dermatologic findings, including acne (27 patients), tinea pedis (32 patients), seborrheic dermatitis (12 patients), folliculitis (8 patients), and xerosis (7 patients).

    • Further research is warranted to understand the complex relationship between alcohol consumption and specific dermatologic manifestations.
