The effect of different flushing methods in a short peripheral catheter

Uniform flushing of short peripheral catheters (SPCs) in rabbits showed less vascular damage than pulsed flushing. However, uniform flushing increased the risk of thrombosis, particularly distally.

- Further research is warranted to optimize flushing protocols to mitigate thrombosis risk while preserving vascular integrity.
