Predictive Value of Preoperative Serum CA19-9 on Margin Status

Background:

• Serum carbohydrate antigen (CA19-9) is a recognized biomarker for pancreatic cancer staging, resectability, and prognosis.
• Achieving an R0 resection (no positive margins) during pancreaticoduodenectomy is critical for improving patient outcomes.
• Positive surgical margins in pancreatic cancer resection are associated with significantly worse prognoses.

Purpose of the Study:

• To investigate the predictive value of preoperative serum CA19-9 levels for determining margin status following pancreaticoduodenectomy.
• To identify factors associated with positive surgical margins in patients undergoing pancreaticoduodenectomy for adenocarcinoma.
