Summary

Most stroke survivors are inactive. This study identified three movement patterns: sedentary exercisers, sedentary movers, and sedentary prolongers, suggesting personalized coaching for better health outcomes.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To identify distinct movement behavior patterns in individuals following a first-ever stroke.

  • A cross-sectional study involving 190 individuals with first-ever stroke discharged home.
  • Movement behaviors were objectively measured using accelerometers over two weeks.

  • Identified patterns highlight the need for individualized approaches to movement behavior interventions.
  • Tailored coaching by healthcare professionals may improve movement behaviors in this population.
