Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) is a risk factor for severe osteoporosis. This study found PTC patients had a higher prevalence of severe osteoporosis, independent of other health factors.

Purpose of the Study:
- To determine if papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) is an independent risk factor for osteoporosis.
- To compare osteoporosis prevalence in PTC patients versus healthy individuals.

- Evaluated serum/urinary biochemical markers, bone mineral density (BMD), and vertebral fractures (VFs) in 35 PTC patients and 35 controls.
- Compared parameters between PTC and control groups.

- PTC patients had higher BMI, HbA1c, and lower eGFR and intact PTH than controls.

- PTC was independently associated with severe osteoporosis (OR, 4.20; 95% CI, 1.05-16.8).

- Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) is identified as an independent risk factor for severe osteoporosis.
- This association persists regardless of BMI, renal function, or glucose levels.
- Findings highlight the need for monitoring bone health in PTC patients.
