Negative epidemiological association between HSV-1 and HSV-2 infections

Herpes simplex virus (HSV) type 1 infection appears to protect against acquiring HSV type 2 infection. This study found a negative association, suggesting HSV-1 sero-positivity reduces the odds of HSV-2 acquisition in men.
