Summary

This study found significantly higher serum levels of interleukin-18 (IL-18) in multiple sclerosis (MS) patients compared to healthy individuals. Specific IL-18 gene polymorphisms were also found to be more frequent in MS patients, suggesting a role for IL-18 in MS pathogenesis.
