Leukemoid reaction: A 21st-century cohort study.

Leukemoid reaction, a high white blood cell count, is often caused by infection or cancer. This study found infections were the most common cause, and both conditions carry a poor prognosis, presenting a significant medical challenge.

- Paraneoplastic leukemoid reaction is also a frequent cause.
- Both conditions are associated with high mortality, posing a major medical challenge.
