  • Pancreatitis complications include PFCs, necessitating effective management strategies.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To develop and evaluate an algorithm for managing pancreatitis complicated by PFCs.
  • To assess the efficacy and safety of EUS-guided drainage, pancreatic duct stenting, and enteral feeding for PFCs.

Main Methods:

  • A prospective study of 108 patients managed with a dedicated algorithm from September 2011 to October 2017.
  • PFCs were classified as POFCs, PPs, or WOPN. Clinical success defined as ≥50% size reduction or ≤2 cm.

Main Results:

  • 95% of patients achieved clinical success. 72% required pancreatic duct stenting; 60% received enteral feeding.
  • Enteral feeding correlated with faster resolution (60 days), while PD stenting aided resolution (90 days).
  • Complications included bleeding (6%) and need for surgical intervention (2%).

  • A comprehensive algorithm integrating EUS-guided drainage, PD stenting, and early enteral feeding leads to high PFC resolution rates.
  • This algorithm offers a safe and effective approach for managing complex pancreatic fluid collections.
