Background:

  • Screen-based simulators offer a platform for targeted NTS training in obstetric emergencies.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the effectiveness of NTS training using a screen-based simulation for midwives managing PPH.
  • To assess the impact of specific NTS training scenarios on midwife performance.

Main Methods:

  • 24 midwives were randomized into two groups: an NTS training group (n=12) and a control group (n=12).
  • The NTS group underwent 3 specific NTS training scenarios, while the control group completed basic simulation scenarios.
  • Performance was assessed using the Anesthetists Non-Technical Skills (ANTS) score by blinded experts on a high-fidelity PPH simulation.

Main Results:

  • The NTS group demonstrated significantly higher median scores across all ANTS dimensions: task management, team working, situation awareness, and decision-making (P < 0.0001 for all).
  • The overall median ANTS score was substantially higher in the NTS group compared to the control group (15.5 vs. 8, P < 0.0001).
