Elevated Colonic Mucin Expression Correlates with Extended Time to Surgery for Ulcerative Colitis Patients

Ulcerative colitis (UC) can be molecularly sub-classified using transcriptome analysis. Elevated mucin gene expression (MUC5B, MUC4, MUC2) in UC patients correlates with a longer time to colectomy, suggesting prognostic value.
