Background:

  • Previous studies indicate poor PEC provision in sub-Saharan Africa, but Nepal lacks similar evaluations.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the current practice of primary eye care among primary health care workers (PHCWs) in Nepal.
  • To assess the knowledge and skills of PHCWs in delivering essential eye care services.

Main Methods:

  • A mixed-methods descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted in Eastern Nepal.
  • Involved knowledge and skills assessment of 107 PHCWs across 35 health posts, equipment/medication assessment, and qualitative data from interviews and focus group discussions.
