Case:
Reduction of dislocated total hip arthroplasty components is a challenging clinical scenario. Although component revision is recommended as a definitive treatment for those with recurrent instability, immediate reduction is required after an acute dislocation. We describe the case of a dislocated total hip arthroplasty and present a novel method for obtaining reduction after other closed techniques had failed.
Conclusions:
Based on this case, utilization of a fracture table to generate adequate axial traction can aid orthopedic surgeons in obtaining reduction of a challenging dislocated hip prosthesis.
