Abstract:
An analysis of the results and conclusions from the most recent RCTs of the role of mechanical bowel preparation before colonic surgery is presented. The results indicate a wide disparity in the methods, results and conclusion of these studies, and the lack of microbial culture confirmation to advance understanding of how to move the field forward.
