  • Two patients who underwent parathyroid resection also had stable disease.
  • No clear consensus guidelines exist for treating PHPT in patients over 85.

Implications:

  • Medical therapy is a viable treatment option for PHPT in patients over 85.
  • Further research is needed to establish definitive treatment guidelines for this demographic.
  • Individualized treatment approaches are crucial for elderly PHPT patients.
