A Murine Model of Hemodialysis Access-Related Hand Dysfunction

Background:

A young male patient diagnosed with pelvic bone fibrosarcoma underwent radical tumor resection.
Reconstruction was performed using a massive frozen iliac bone allograft fixed with screws.

Observation:

The patient experienced immediate postoperative local sepsis at the reconstructed site.
The infection was successfully treated with pediculate omentoplasty, preserving the allograft.

Findings:

Radiographic evaluation at 1 year showed successful allograft integration.
After 20 years, the patient developed left hip arthritis, necessitating total hip arthroplasty, with no signs of tumor recurrence.

Implications:

This case demonstrates the efficacy of pediculate omentoplasty in managing post-reconstructive infections.
Massive bone allografts can provide durable structural support for decades, even after complications.
Successful long-term outcomes are achievable with combined surgical strategies for complex bone tumors.
