Elevated lipoprotein(a) levels increase cardiovascular risk. The novel antisense oligonucleotide APO(a)-LRx significantly reduced these levels in a dose-dependent manner, showing promise for future cardiovascular disease prevention.

Background:
- Elevated lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] levels are genetically determined and a significant risk factor for cardiovascular disease (CVD) and aortic stenosis.

Purpose of the Study:
- To evaluate the efficacy and safety of the hepatocyte-directed antisense oligonucleotide AKCEA-APO(a)-LRx (APO(a)-LRx) in reducing lipoprotein(a) levels.
- To determine the dose-dependent effect of APO(a)-LRx in patients with established cardiovascular disease and elevated Lp(a).
