Ectopia cordis, a heart defect, usually leads to death without surgery. This case report details a rare six-year-old survivor with uncorrected ectopia cordis, highlighting exceptional survival.

Background:

Ectopia cordis is a rare congenital anomaly where the heart is abnormally positioned outside the chest cavity.
It often occurs with pentalogy of Cantrell, involving multiple congenital defects.
Survival rates are extremely low without surgical intervention.

Observation:

A six-year-old child with uncorrected ectopia cordis is presented.
The child experiences significant limitations in physical activity and respiratory function.
This case represents an exceptionally long survival period for uncorrected ectopia cordis.

Findings:

Ectopia cordis survival is typically limited to the neonatal period without surgical correction.
This case demonstrates a unique instance of prolonged survival into childhood.
