Purpose of the Study:
- To investigate the association between the timing of lymph node metastasis detection and patient prognosis in soft tissue sarcoma.
Main Methods:
- Retrospective analysis of 33 soft tissue sarcoma patients with LNM diagnosed between 2001 and 2015.
- Patients were categorized based on LNM detection within <8 months or ≥8 months from primary tumor diagnosis.
Main Results:
- No significant correlation was found between primary tumor size and LNM timing (p=0.96).
- Patients with LNM detected <8 months had a 5-year survival of 19%, versus 71% for those detected ≥8 months (p=0.0016).
- Early LNM (<8 months) was also associated with a higher incidence of pulmonary metastases (p=0.01).
Conclusions:
- Early detection of lymph node metastasis (<8 months) may indicate a poor prognosis in soft tissue sarcoma patients.
