Frontispiece
Abstract:
The frontispiece shows a representative π-conjugated aryl-acetylene system and the key design rules in the fine tuning of the chemical/physical properties of such a structure. Appropriate molecular design and the availability of efficient synthetic protocols have led to impressive results in the creation of various high-performance aryl-acetylene semiconductors for organic field-effect transistor/organic photovoltaic cell devices. The major advances in this field are highlighted in the Minireview by Assunta Marrocchi et al. on page 486 ff.

Spanning Openings in Brick Walls
Lintels are primary supports used to span openings and can be crafted from materials such as reinforced concrete, steel-reinforced brick masonry, or simple steel angles. These are straightforward to install and are typically concealed...
Efflorescence in Masonry
While initial efflorescence is common post-construction and can be cleaned with water and a brush, in certain instances, efflorescence can reappear and gradually diminish over time as salts are leached out...
Cranial Bones: Superior and Posterior View
The frontal bone is the single bone that forms the forehead. At its anterior midline, between the eyebrows, there is a slight depression called the glabella. The frontal bone also forms the supraorbital margin of the orbit. Near the middle of this margin is the supraorbital foramen, the opening that provides passage for a sensory nerve to the forehead. The frontal bone is thickened just above each supraorbital margin,...
Cranial Bones: Lateral View
The temporal bone forms the lower lateral side of the skull. The temporal bone is subdivided into several regions. The flattened upper portion is the squamous portion of the temporal bone. Below this area and projecting anteriorly is the zygomatic process of the temporal bone, which forms the posterior portion of the zygomatic arch. Posteriorly is the mastoid portion of the temporal bone. Projecting...
