[Individualization of hypotensive therapy under outpatient conditions]
Insights
This study explored optimal hypertension treatment regimens using a stepwise approach. Findings suggest a specific information test aids in evaluating treatment effectiveness for hypertensive patients.
Area of Science:
- Cardiology
- Clinical Pharmacology
Background:
- Hypertension management requires effective and individualized treatment strategies.
- Assessing treatment adequacy is crucial for optimizing patient outcomes.
Purpose of the Study:
- To evaluate a stepwise treatment schedule for hypertension over four years.
- To determine the optimal regimen for managing arterial blood pressure.
- To compare assessment methods for treatment efficacy.
Main Methods:
- A 4-year study involving 154 hypertensive patients.
- One group received a stepwise regimen assessed using an information test, blood pressure fall, and general condition.
- Two control groups were assessed based on general condition and blood pressure fall only.
Main Results:
- The information test, alongside blood pressure fall and general condition, provided a comprehensive assessment of treatment adequacy.
- Stepwise regimens allowed for regimen optimization in hypertensive patients.
Conclusions:
- An information test can enhance the evaluation of hypertension treatment efficacy.
- Individualized, stepwise approaches are valuable for optimizing antihypertensive therapy.
Abstract:
A stepwise treatment schedule was used for 4 years in 154 hypertensive patients. The adequacy of treatment and the arterial blood pressure level were assessed in the main group, in search of an optimum regimen, on the basis of the information test, with the magnitude of blood pressure fall and patient's general condition also taken into account. In two other groups, treatment efficiency was checked by the patient's general condition and arterial blood pressure fall, while the information test was not used.
