PIPAC versus HIPEC: cisplatin spatial distribution and diffusion in a swine model

Pressurized intraperitoneal aerosol chemotherapy (PIPAC) and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) show heterogeneous cisplatin distribution. While HIPEC resulted in higher overall peritoneal uptake, PIPAC demonstrated a better drug uptake yield relative to the administered dose.

- Both techniques exhibited heterogeneous spatial drug distribution.
- PIPAC demonstrated a superior intraperitoneal drug uptake yield when considering the dose ratio.
