Summary

Retendon (mucopolygen complex) improved collagen sequencing in Achilles tendon healing histologically but did not significantly enhance biomechanical strength in rat models. Further research is needed to understand its full effect mechanism.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the recovery effects of Retendon (mucopolygen complex) on Achilles tendon healing.
  • To evaluate the histological and biomechanical impact of Retendon on injured Achilles tendons.
  • To elucidate the mechanism of action for Retendon in tendon repair.

Main Methods:

  • A study involving 40 female Wistar-Albino rats divided into experimental and control groups.
  • The experimental group received Retendon (Mucopolysaccharides, Hydrolyzed Collagen Type I, Vitamin C).
  • Histological and biomechanical analyses were performed to assess tendon recovery.

  • Histological examination revealed more regular collagen formation in the Retendon group compared to the control.
  • No significant differences were observed in vascularization, inflammation, or fibroblastic levels.
