Summary

Recurrent tonsillitis in children does not significantly impact growth. This study found no notable differences in height, weight, or skinfold thickness between children with recurrent tonsil infections and a healthy control group.

  • Anecdotal evidence suggests a link between tonsil disease and impaired growth.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the association between recurrent tonsillitis and physical growth in children.
  • To compare anthropometric measurements between children with and without recurrent tonsillitis.

Main Methods:

  • A case-control study was conducted.
  • Compared height, weight, and skinfold thickness in 44 children with recurrent tonsillitis and 34 healthy controls.

Main Results:

  • No significant differences in height were observed between the groups.
  • Weight and skinfold thickness measurements also showed no important variations.

  • Conclusions:
